Online Project Management Software/Communications Dashboard
Posted 7 years ago at 6:23 pm
Hello all, I'm looking for two things:
1. Is anyone using 'project management' software of any kind to share messages, calendars/timelines, documents that multiple partners might be working on, and as a place to have a home for the many documents and agreements created in Collective Impact work. If so, can you share what it is, whether or not your partners are actually utilizing it, and how you secured buy-in? I've used Basecamp before for a non-CI effort, but I'd like to find a real-life example for a CI effort.
2. Have you developed a 'communications dashboard' (might also be referred to as a 'communications plan') that gets really, really into the weeds about how you're managing the continuous communication piece as a backbone?
Thanks so much!
Noelle

We posted this query to the Forum's twitter accoutn (@CIForumTweets) and received two recommendations--one for ProofHub. (From Nandini on this thread, who I believe is part of SDP Labs, which works on ProofHub. We appreciate the rec for your work, Nandini!)
We also received a rec for the collaboration site/software Bitrix24.
If anyone else has other project management tools for collective impact that they'd like to share, please feel free!

Hi All,
The report "Harnessing Collaborative Technologies" by the Monitor Institute may be a useful reference on this topic. While their research focused on technology for "funder collaboration," most of the tools they looked at are relevant for other types of collaboratives as well.

Hope this is helpful!

I'm curious if anyone has used Trello. I have only just been introduced to it as in interoffice collaborative project management tool. But I was curious if anyone has used it for CI project management.
Thanks for the tip on ProofHub, Nandini.
And I LOVE the question about communications plans. I am curious about the same thing now that I see your question about that, Noelle!
Best,
Jodi

6 years late to this, but yes! Trello is serving us pretty well so far. Are you still using it?

Thanks, Jully. Just to confirm, is S888BET a casino? When doing a search, that's all I could find.

Hi Jully,
Would you mind sharing your "communications plan" with me as well? I am looking to develop a stronger communication plan with my coalition. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
You can use iprosh who do what you are looking for and particularly with activity stream and kanboard where you can fix priority etc...
or otherwise you have also bitrix24 who is full of options but more complicated
and otherwise trello can be good but you need others tools to do everything you will need.

Thanks for the recs, Ludovic! Just as a heads-up, if you work at the company whose products you're recommending, it's helpful to provide full disclosure about that since we don't allow marketing of products or services on the Forum.

Have you tried TaskQue. It may help you in communication management. It is one of the best team collaboration tools. It also offers you to have real time discussions and then create discussion minutes.

Hi Noelle,
Sorry to chime into this thread late in the game. We are exploring various project management tools and I was wondering if you ended up finding one that worked for you. We are currently weighing options between Monday.com, Slack, and Microsoft Project. Any insights you could provide in regards to what you decided to use would be great!
Thank you,
Alexandra

To all,
Also curious if there is any updates in 2020 to what folks are using. Microsoft Teams seems to be a real improvement in the Microsoft Office platform, and I see a lot of education centers are using the Google Suite platform.

We have begun to use Basecamp. It comes at a cost, but it allows for document storage, messaging, shared calendards/to-do lists, and automated alerts. It does not have built-in meeting capability, so we continue to use Zoom for that, but it isn't a problem.

We're a big fan of Smartsheet for tracking communication and implementation plans. It's an online based spreadsheet, but with lots of great features for project management
