Join us for a free video livestream of the featured discussion, “Equity Matters in the Collective Impact.” This plenary session will take place during three overlapping convenings in New Orleans: Catalyzing Large Scale Change: The Funder’s Role in Collective Impact, From Common Goals to Uncommon Results: A Convening for Leaders of Experienced Collective Impact Initiatives, and Aspen Institute’s Opportunity Youth Incentive Fund (OYIF) Convening. All three convenings will be held at the same location on May 6 to allow for joint discussions on collective impact.

We are pleased to offer a free livestream for those who want to remotely access this session on equity and collective impact.

ABOUT THIS PRESENTATION

Equity is a critical lens to bring to any collective impact initiative, regardless of the social issue. What are the greatest challenges and opportunities with bringing an equity framework to collective impact? How should funders, backbone leaders, and other community leaders approach equity and collective impact? How does equity relate to developing a common agenda, shared measurement, mutually reinforcing activities, continuous communication, and backbone support? Plenary session speakers include:

  • Intro remarks from Melody Barnes – Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions

  • Keynote remarks from Angela Glover Blackwell – PolicyLink

  • Plenary discussion with Angela Glover Blackwell – PolicyLink, William Buster – W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Ray Colmenar – The California Endowment, Ashleigh Gardere – Office of New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, and Steve Patrick – Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions

Bookmark this page and come back to this event listing to access the livestream at 8am CST / 9am EST on Wednesday, May 6.

Can’t make this livestream event? We will post video of the full session later to the Collective Impact Forum resource library and announce it in a future e-newsletter.

Yes, we will be recording the full session at the conference, and later will be uploading the video to the Forum's resource library, so if you are unable to watch it on Wednesday, you will be able to view it at a later time. We will post an announcement in our e-newsletter when it has been added.

Really excited for this session to be happening. Racial equity, in my opinion, is a core value, and therefore must be central in how we oreint ourselves to the work we do as organzations both internally and externally. Exemplifying how racial equity is actionable  is a key step in helping those of us who know that we need to focus our work to meet the needs and desires of specific racial and ethnic groups within the populations we serve, but are not as well versed in how to do so without jeopardizing all that we have to do.  Like I said, I am really excited for this session!

I'm listening now on my laptop and the audio is working for me. My one rec is to check the computer audio to see if it has been muted.

Anyone else having audio issues?

I can't access the livestream either... is there a particular browser for which the content is optimized?  I've tried both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.

I'm using Chrome and Firefox and both are working. Trying with Internet Explorer, I was requested that I needed flash enabled, so that might be the issue with IE.

Thank you all for your suggestions.  I think it's an agency firewall issue... no one here can access the livestream.

Giving community a voice is key.  Grooming the next generation in underserved neighborhoods is a great start.  We are forming a 'Youth Council' in Houston to be the bridge for intergenerational & interracial/multiethnic/multicultural action.  The demographics of this community has changed reflected in schools but the 'grass roots' & community efforts does not reflect this.  Forming this Youth Council is a start.

Our collaborative partners have been talking about collective impact, but not as much about equity. Our Risk Factors team is currently working on our community wellness plan and we are using the Health Equity document. But we cannot agree more with the importance of data and historical context.
