In 2017, the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), in partnership with the California Preterm Birth Initiative (PTBi-CA) at UC San Francisco (UCSF), launched a multi-year collective impact program called Expecting Justice (EJ), for healthy births for Black and Pacific Islander communities in San Francisco. Black and Pacific Islander women have the highest rates of adverse birth outcomes and birth experiences. We believe that racism is at the root of these disparities. Collective impact is a framework used across the country to structure cross-sector collaborations. By engaging leaders from diverse organizations and in partnership with communities most affected by preterm birth, we believe we can create systems change which will improve the social and economic conditions of our prioritized populations. Based out of the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the Expecting Justice backbone team helps to guide and structure this collaboration. This position will serve as an Administrative Assistant to the Expecting Justice backbone team.
