THE ORGANIZATION:

The Prosper Waco initiative was launched in February 2015 and is the backbone organization for the collective impact initiative in greater Waco, Texas.  It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, serving the community by convening partner groups to collaboratively identify and strategically implement efforts that will addres the goals of the community-wide initiative.

The mission of Prosper Waco is to build an environment in which "all members of our Waco community are able to measurably improve their education, health and financial security". The organization's efforts toward accomplishing the mission are conducted through:

  • Bridging strategic conversations across the initiative's three focus areas: education, health, and financial security
  • Connecting initiative activities to potential partners and funding sources
  • Tracking, analyzing, and reporting outcome data to inform the work of inititive partners and to help ensure accountability to initiative goals
  • Building the capacity of the initiative partners
  • Communicating contributions and successes of partner organizations to the greater community

 THE CEO POSITION:

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Prosper Waco reports to the Board of Directors (BOD) as a full-time employee.  The CEO works closely with the BOD to maximize and focus community efforts to advance the goals for the collective impact initiative.

Prosper Waco board members are seeking a self-motivated and focused CEO to guide the organization by building strong functional collaborations, identifying and developing capable partners, serving as a neutral convener, and providing the periodic data analysis to support the work of the partners. The CEO performance is measured by specific outcomes tied to achievement of goals.

Traits and Characteristics Desired

The ideal candidate is a collaborative team builder, mentor and seasoned leader who makes day-to-day decisions based on the strategic goals of the collective initiative.  The CEO will be a forward-thinking servant leader who develops trust across a network of constituencies, breaks down hierarchies and uses intuition and logic to guide partners to achieving shared goals.

A succesful Prosper Waco CEO:

  • Guides strategic visioning and problem-solving
  • Builds trust by helping partners effecively work together
  • Provides objectivity as an honest broker, motivated by common good and not personal gain
  • Exerts influence with partners by providing outcome data to shape priorities
  • Focuses on gaining understanding, input, and buy-in from all segments of the community
  • Maintains communication with working groups, assists with identifying objectives, and monitors progress towards goals
  • Builds collaborative efforts that no one organization could achieve on its own
  • Communicates success measured against goals
  • Develops and coaches a small high-achieving staff
  • Is passionate about working through others to achieve goals
  • Allows integrity to guide every decision and action

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university is required; an advanced degree is preferred
  • Five or more years' experience as a senior leader in a dynamic organization
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and direct diverse workforces or groups
  • Experience working in organizations with multiple lines of business or services
  • Demonstrated successful track record of meeting or exceeding organizational goals
  • Demonstrated success working with a board of directors
  • Demonstrated success as a collaborative leader who ensures all participants' perspectives are heard
  • Demonstrate ability to produce equitable results by identifying and eliminating barriers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, expecially with diverse audiences at varying education levels
  • Ability to work with and lead teams, partners, peers, and others with no direct authority over participants
  • Ability to find and access data from a variety of sources, be proficient with the internet, and effectively use Microsoft Suite to produce and deliver presentations
  • Financial acumen

Compensation:

The salary is competitive for the authority level and responsibility and is equitable to similar positions in the region.  A comprehensive benefits package is provided.  Relocation assistance is negotiable.
